RN Requirements

15 contact hours/2 years

RNs must meet two of the following three criteria every 2 years for renewal:

1. 15 contact hours of CE in subjects appropriate to the nurse’s practice
   • 1.5 hours must be related to the prevention of medication errors.
2. 320 hours active nursing practice in the biennium
3. 15 hours of approved professional activities

LPN Requirements

15 contact hours/2 years

LPNs must meet two of the following three criteria every 2 years for renewal:

1. 15 contact hours of CE in subjects appropriate to the nurse’s practice
   • 1.5 hours must be related to the prevention of medication errors.
2. 320 hours active nursing practice in the biennium
3. 15 hours of approved professional activities

Advanced Practice Nursing Requirements

30 contact hours/2 years

APRNs must meet two of the following three criteria every 2 years for renewal:

1. 30 contact hours of CE in subjects appropriate to the nurse’s practice
   • 1.5 hours must be related to the prevention of medication errors.
2. 320 hours active nursing practice in the biennium
3. 15 hours of approved professional activities
